The Centre may extend the deadline for mandatory SIM binding for messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram and Signal until December 2026, according to a report by Hindustan Times. The initial deadline for the mandate was March 1, 2026. A similar SIM binding mandate is also followed by payment and banking apps such as Google Pay and Paytm.
