Tanker captains offered ₹96 lakh/month to sail through Hormuz amid attacks

Amid increasing attacks on ships in Strait of Hormuz due to Iran-US war, oil tanker captains are being offered about $100,000 (₹96.31 lakh) a month, plus $50,000 (₹48.18 lakh) bonuses for each trip through Hormuz. Captains ordinarily earn around $15,000 (₹14.44 lakh) monthly. Ordinary seafarers, whose salaries start at $1,500, are being offered four to six times their usual pay.
