CBD COP17 opens in Yerevan to tackle biodiversity loss

The 17th UN Convention on Biological Diversity Conference (COP17) began October 19 in Yerevan, Armenia. UN Secretary-General Guterres warned of slow progress toward protecting 30% of land and sea by 2030. The meet marks the first global review of the Kunming-Montreal Biodiversity Framework, adopted in 2022 by 196 countries.
