India fastest-growing steel market, demand to hit 172MT in 2026: Report

India's steel demand is projected to grow 7.9% to 172.4 million tonnes in 2026 and 8.0% to 186.2 million tonnes in 2027, driven by infrastructure, real estate, and automotive sectors. Globally, steel demand stays flat at 1,722MT in 2026 before rising 1.7% in 2027, as per World Steel Association's October outlook.
