SC refuses urgent hearing on West Bengal SIR ahead of bypolls

The Supreme Court on Monday refused an urgent hearing into a plea seeking a probe into "serious deficiencies" in the Special Intensive Revision in West Bengal. The court directed the appeal to be heard on October 5, a day before Rejinagar and Nandigram bypolls in the state. The plea highlighted that 3.8 million appeals are pending before SIR tribunals.
