The government blocked access to 50 OTT streaming platforms in India in the past two years over obscene content, said I&B Minister of State, L Murugan in Lok Sabha. The blocked services violated sections under IT Act, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act. The government said these provisions empower authorities to act against unlawful content.
