Severe COVID-19 and flu can lead to lung cancer years later: Study

A study found that severe COVID-19 and influenza infections can facilitate the growth of lung cancer months or years later. "A bad case of COVID or flu can leave the lungs in a long-lasting 'inflamed' state that makes it easier for cancer to take hold later," a researcher said. Vaccination, however, helped prevent harmful changes in the lungs, they added.
