Syria’s Tartous, Hmeimim to no longer be used by Russia as military bases

Syria and Russia have reached an agreement to end use of Tartous and Hmeimim as Russian military bases. Syria will now take control of Hmeimim air base and the commercial berth at Tartous port, while military facilities at both sites will be turned into “joint training centres”. Russia used the bases to provide military support to ex-Syrian leader Bashar Assad.
