EU invites Canada to be its 1st associate member amid trade war with US

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen invited Canada to be EU's first associate member, a status it hasn't even given to Ukraine. This follows Canadian PM Mark Carney saying his country is seeking a "unique alliance" with EU amid trade war with US. "Partnerships are a strategic choice for Europe," she said, adding that it's "not against anyone else".
