Microplastics burrow into arteries, fuel strokes in men: Study

Routine exposure to microplastics may speed up artery-clogging atherosclerosis in males, a University of California study stated. Male mice exposed to microplastics showed a 63% rise in plaque in the aortic root and a 624% increase in the brachiocephalic artery. Researchers noted the damage occurred without weight gain or higher cholesterol, suggesting it wasn't influenced by classic risk factors.
