'Elephants In The Fog' selected as Nepal's Oscar 2027 pick

Director Abinash Bikram Shah's debut directorial, 'Elephants in the Fog,' has been selected to represent Nepal in the Best International Feature Film category at the 2027 Oscars. The film follows Pirati, the matriarch of a Nepalese Kinnar community. It premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival and made history as the first Nepali feature film to win a major award.
