'Dune 2' director Denis Villeneuve called out The Academy for disqualifying Hans Zimmer's score for the film at Oscars 2025. "I'm absolutely against the decision...to exclude Hans," said Villeneuve, adding, "I don't use the word genius often, but Hans is one." The Academy determined that Zimmer's score in 'Dune 2' had a lot of elements from 'Dune'.
