Scientists discover 'zombie worms' that eat whale bones in deep ocean

Scientists have discovered strange "zombie worms" called Osedax that feed on whale bones in deep ocean. First identified in 2002, the worms use root-like structures to access nutrients from bones. Their reproduction is also unusual, as tiny males live inside the female's protective tube. Scientists also said whale carcasses can support entire ecosystems, providing food for many deep-sea organisms.
