The first full moon of spring, known as 'Pink Moon' will light up the sky tonight reaching its peak illumination on April 2 at 3:12 am. The name comes from the pink wildflowers, particularly wild ground phlox, and not the moon's colour. The change in colour is due to scattering of shorter wavelengths of light giving it a reddish appearance.
