20 people die every hour on Indian roads: Union Minister
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that India records nearly 5 lakh road accidents annually, resulting in 1.8 lakh deaths. "Every hour, 20 people die on our roads. Such a scale of death is not seen even in disease or war," he stated. He stated poorly designed accident-prone stretches (black spots) remain one of the biggest reasons for road fatalities.
