Actor and TVK chief's wife, Sangeetha, who has filed a divorce petition, claimed Vijay had an affair with an actress. The petition alleged that Vijay "forced Sangeetha to live separately within the matrimonial home and continued to travel abroad and attend public events with the actress". She claimed the marriage offers her nothing but "mental agony, humiliation and suffering".
