The Centre's Department of Biotechnology awarded structural biologist Prof Imtaiyaz Hassan of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) a grant of ₹8.05 crore. The grant will aid a major project to investigate cancer cachexia, which causes rapid weight loss in head and neck cancer (HNC) patients. The project is a collaborative effort between institutions like IISc Bengaluru and Mysore University.
