Pak think tank explains how fuel-saving tricks are failing, says 'Losing $2.7 to save $1'

Islamabad-based Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) explained how the country is failing in saving fuel by imposing austerity measures, which include a mandatory shutdown of non-essential shops at 8 pm daily. "Each dollar saved...has losses of $2.7, making the package economically suboptimal," PIDE said. It further called salary reductions and forfeitures "political signalling".
