Wildlife biologist Dr Purnima Devi Barman is the only Indian woman to be featured on the TIME's Women of the Year 2025 list. She's best known for her pioneering efforts to save the endangered greater adjutant stork (Hargila). She created the all-women 'Hargila Army' conservation group, which is dedicated to protecting the species and its habitat.
