Why is Easter celebrated with decorated eggs?

Easter eggs became part of Easter because eggs were symbols of fertility and regeneration before Christianity. Early Christians adopted this imagery to represent Jesus Christ's Resurrection and new life emerging from the tomb. In Orthodox tradition, eggs were painted red to symbolise the blood that Jesus shed on the cross. Over time, the tradition evolved and eggs became elaborately decorated.
