short by Medhaa Gupta / on Wednesday, 25 December, 2024
The birth of Jesus Christ is celebrated by most people on December 25 as Christmas. The earliest mention of Jesus being born on December 25 is found in a Roman document called the Philocalian Calendar. The Roman church formally began celebrating Christmas on the date in 336 CE, during the rule of Emperor Constantine, as per Encyclopaedia Britannica.
