A meeting between TMC MLA Ritabrata Banerjee and West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari on May 22 reportedly intensified a political crisis within TMC. Rebel MLAs were also unhappy with Abhishek Banerjee's rising dominance, resulting in 58 legislators challenging the high command. MLAs alleged signatures on a letter backing TMC's LoP had been forged, triggering a CID probe and internal rebellion.
