The government has appointed Ravi Agrawal, a 1988-batch IRS officer, as the Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). He will remain in this post till his superannuation on September 30 and after that, his re-appointment will be on a contract basis till June 30, 2025. Agrawal will replace Nitin Gupta, whose tenure ends on June 30.
