Indian Railways has spent ₹1.92 lakh crore on modernisation so far in FY25, the government said. This includes ₹34,400 crore spent on safety-related works and ₹40,367 crore spent on rolling stock. "The fruits for consistent capex over past decade are evident in form of 136 Vande Bharat trains, 97% electrification of broad-gauge lines and major upgrades to infrastructure," government added.
