Govt restricts duty-free gold imports to 100 kg per licence

The government has capped duty-free gold imports at 100 kg per licence under the advance authorisation scheme. Under revised norms issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, firms must fulfil at least 50% of export obligations to receive subsequent authorisations. The move comes after the government raised the import duty on gold and silver to 15%.
