What caused the flash floods in Nepal?

Initial reports have suggested that an earthquake near the Tibet-Nepal border could have triggered an avalanche and caused the flash floods, Nepal's Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal told the parliament on Wednesday, local media reported. A researcher citing preliminary assessment said that an ice avalanche may have blocked Lhende River, causing water to accumulate before the blockage gave way.
