Hidden map in nose could explain how smell works

Scientists have created the first-ever smell map, revealing a hidden, highly organised structure within our nostrils. The new research, conducted on mice, shows that smell receptors are arranged in strict horizontal stripes, layered from top of the nose to bottom. Researchers found that this map perfectly aligns with smell map in olfactory bulb, the brain's primary processing centre for odours.
