AAP leader shot dead in Punjab months before elections

AAP leader Gurpreet Singh Gopi was shot dead after armed assailants allegedly chased the motorcycle on which he was riding and opened fire in Punjab's Ferozepur. The police said an old dispute was behind the attack, with an election-related dispute emerging as a key angle in the investigation. Notably, elections are expected to be held in Punjab in February 2027.
