Transaction success checks by banks cause longest UPI outage in 3 years: Report

Non-stop transaction success checks for UPI transactions sent to NPCI by multiple banks caused five-hour UPI outage on Saturday, the longest in over three years, Moneycontrol reported. NPCI's rules state banks can check a transaction's success only thrice, with a 90-second interval between two checks. Since banks were responsible for adhering to limit, NPCI didn't have way to limit checks.
