6 nations threaten to block EU budget, seek more funds for defence

Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Austria and Finland have threatened to withhold consent on EU's next seven-year budget unless "hundreds of billions" of euros are cut, FT reported. These countries want to shift resources towards defence while cutting funding for farmers and poorer regions. Notably, they shoulder around 3/4th of the total financing among all 27 member states.
