IEX applies to launch India's first coal exchange

Indian Energy Exchange's subsidiary, Indian Coal Exchange Ltd, applied on September 25, 2026, for a license to launch India's first coal exchange. The platform will enable two-sided online bidding between producers and consumers, improving price transparency. It could go live within 12 months. IEX leads the race, ahead of NSE and MCX.
