Satellite image shows powerful monsoon system over Bay of Bengal

A powerful monsoon depression over the northwest Bay of Bengal is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall across Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh through August 18. INSAT-3DS imagery shows dense cloud bands and strong moisture inflow. The IMD has warned of isolated extremely heavy rain, flooding, landslides and transport disruptions in affected areas.
