The DMK moved the Supreme Court, seeking directions to Karnataka to immediately release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu in line with the Cauvery Water Management Authority's order. The authority directed Karnataka to release 3,500 cusecs of water daily for 15 days at the Biligundlu inter-state border. Farmer Thiru Vijayan, affected by the non-release of water, filed the plea in court.
