Election Commission is considering a proposal for dedicated verification counters outside polling stations in West Bengal to check the identity (faces) of voters whose faces are covered by a burqa, ghunghat, or scarf, Hindustan Times reported, citing two senior officials. Until now, such voters enter polling station directly and are verified only while casting their vote, inside the booth.
