Home Minister Amit Shah directed a high-level committee on demographic change to study population shifts in border districts, officials said. He asked the panel to visit border areas, metro cities and industrial towns to assess changes linked to illegal immigration and other factors, they added. The committee will also analyse population changes at the level of religious and social communities.
