Which cities topped govt rankings for efforts to improve air quality?

Lucknow topped Union Environment Ministry's 'Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan' 2026 rankings for efforts by cities with population above 10 lakh to improve air quality and was followed by Indore, India's cleanest city, and Jabalpur. Delhi was ranked 21, Mumbai ranked 28, and Bengaluru was ranked 32. Chennai, Jamshedpur, Kota, Kolkata and Madurai were the bottom five ranked cities in the category.
