The NCERT has apologised for including "inappropriate material" on judiciary in Class 8 social science textbook after objections from Supreme Court and has halted the book's distribution. It said the error was "purely unintentional" and that the book will be rewritten and reissued for 2026-27 academic year. The move follows criticism from CJI Surya Kant over content on judicial corruption.
