The Home Ministry on Tuesday banned the Umar Farooq-led Awami Action Committee for five years, alleging its support and funding of terrorism and anti-India propaganda in Jammu and Kashmir. The Ministry cited multiple cases of alleged involvement of AAC in speeches promoting separatism and stone-pelting incidents. The government declared it an unlawful organisation under UAPA Act, 1967.
