After Parliament debate on Vande Mataram on Monday, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said, "Congress compromised on Vande Mataram under pressure from the Muslim League." He added that Congress "did tukde tukde of the national song on the same soil of Bengal where Bankim Chandra Chatterjee wrote it in 1875." Tiwari also noted that Rahul Gandhi was absent during the discussion.
