Israel could have shot down the Flydubai plane with over 170 people on board if Indian captain hadn't opened the cockpit after his co-pilot stabbed him to pull off 9/11-style terror attack. Israel's anti-hijacking policy allows hijacked aircraft to be shot down if it is determined to be heading towards strategic targets. However, the plane never entered Israeli airspace.
