Man cancels hotel booking as wedding called off amid COVID, wins ₹2-lakh payout

A Jaipur consumer commission directed a hotel to refund ₹2 lakh to a father who cancelled his daughter's wedding booking due to Covid-19 restrictions in 2021. It held the hotel deficient in service for retaining the advance despite repeated refund requests. The father had initially paid ₹2 lakh by cheque and claimed to have paid another ₹4.25 lakh in installments.
