Company earns ₹12.4 lakh/month by sub-leasing govt land it rented for ₹1/year in Tamil Nadu

The Madras High Court allowed Tamil Nadu government's SIPCOT to collect sub-leasing charges from Carriers Private Limited, stating that government industrial land cannot be commercially exploited. Carriers was allotted 17.64-acre land for 99 years at ₹1/year rent. Carriers sub-leased the property, earning ₹12.41 lakh monthly rent, with 5% annual escalation and 18% interest on delayed payments.
