SC seeks govt's reply on plea to stop police from revealing accused persons' identities online

The Supreme Court sought responses from the Union government, states and social media platforms X and Meta on a petition seeking directions to prevent police from posting content that reveals identities of accused persons. The public interest litigation, filed by a Gujarat resident, also sought directions to police to remove existing posts of this nature from their social media handles.
