US President Donald Trump’s proposed $1.5 trillion defence budget outlines major increases across key areas. About $156 billion has been earmarked for procurement of weapons, equipment, aircraft, ships and other hardware. Another $125 billion is allocated for research and development, while around $48 billion is set aside for operations and maintenance.
