AI beats human record, independently computes 9-loop physics amplitude

Anthropic's Claude AI has computed the nine-loop six-particle scattering amplitude in planar N=4 super-Yang-Mills, surpassing the eight-loop record set in 2023 by Lance Dixon's team. The theoretical physics challenge was completed after a single prompt, with Claude working largely unsupervised for days. It produced two independent calculations at an estimated compute cost of $1,000-$2,000.
