Govt considering longer trial runs before inauguration as newly built roads develop cracks

The central government is looking at the option of carrying out trial runs on highways for a longer period before they are officially inaugurated. The normal traffic may be allowed for two-three months to identify deficiencies before their formal launch. This follows incidents of newly built highway stretches developing cracks, potholes, premature failures and rutting.
