Tamil Nadu has postponed reopening of schools for 2026-27 academic session to June 4 for students of Classes 1-12. The School Education Department cited intermittent rainfall, high humidity and heat fluctuations as reasons for the delay. Schools were originally scheduled to reopen on June 1. The postponement will apply to government, government-aided and private schools across the state.
