Teens build AI tool to detect oral cancer in West Bengal

Five high schoolers from Purulia, West Bengal, developed an AI tool that uses a phone camera to detect early signs of oral cancer from mouth photos. The project won a $3,000 Sustainability Award at the 2026 Ciena Solutions Challenge. The team plans to deploy the tech at rural health camps across India.
