short by Ankush Verma / on Sunday, 25 January, 2026
Taliban has introduced a new law dividing Afghan society into four classes, with different punishments prescribed for the same crime depending on social status. The four classes are - clerics, nobles, middle class, and lower class. Clerics are exempt from severe punishment, with admonition deemed sufficient in case of wrongdoing, while lower class may face flogging and other severe punishments.
