The Indian Railways has electrified 99.6% of its broad gauge network and operates about 25,000 trains daily, the government said on Wednesday. The Railways carried 741 crore passengers in 2025–26, with total revenue reaching ₹80,000 crore. As much as 69,873 route kilometres have been electrified as of March 2026, up from 21,801 km in 2014, the government added.
